Adrian: I am sorry for letting this sit for so long, we’ve been unsure about how to answer it. We do not want to chastise you about how you are choosing to get your hormones, but we also do not want to promote getting testosterone illegally. We understand that access to this medication is restricted and support can be limited for people, and we want to acknowledge that and respect that fact about trans*people.

That being said, we believe that compliance is the best option. Being compliant with your doctors and the laws surrounding testosterone, which is a controlled substance, is the best move. This goes for people who get their testosterone legally as well - follow the doctor’s orders.

We cannot, unfortunately, give any advice on where to get testosterone illegally, how much to inject and how frequently to inject. These are things that we simply do not have the credentials for nor do we feel comfortable answering given that it is against the law.

What we CAN do for you, however, is give you information on the injection process:

Adrian has made a fairly comprehensive video about IM injections, with a demonstration.

Drugs.com has a very good article on intramuscular injections.

Here is a pdf on both IM injections and subcutaneous injections (both of which can be used for testosterone administration).

This is an article I read when I was learning to self inject titled “Self-Inject in 25 easy Steps”

And of course, browse youtube for demonstrations by other transguys. A lot of guys see this process as a right of passage and elect to do their own shots and film it!

We wish we could help you in other ways - but hopefully this is useful to you.
