Zak: That isn’t weird at all. I am still a little uncomfortable with the men’s bathroom (I also don’t STP), and I think part of that is that I’ve always been a little uncomfortable about public bathrooms. The whole thing can be kind of awkward and uncomfortable, even if you aren’t afraid of not passing or being hassled. I’m a huge fan of gender neutral, single-person bathrooms.
Adrian: I’ve been using male bathrooms going on 3+ years now and I still get very anxious about male restrooms. Alongside Zak, I do not stp, and I am fearful that all of the older men will be able to recognize my “stream” as being similar sounding to their wives’ and therefore suspicious of me in the restroom. I also fear that people who see me in the restroom quite often but never see me use the urinal will also get suspicious. I know many people will say, Oh you’re being too analytical - dudes don’t care about restrooms! But I have actually been confronted and chased out of a men’s restroom before so I think that being uncomfortable in the men’s restroom is not only justified but something that I see as precautionary and necessary for my safety. I think that you’re totally fine, it’s reasonable and nothing to be ashamed of.
